www.kingsseeds.com

They are one of the cheapest and reliable.  I also use Thompson Morgan for more specific varieties but they can be quite expensive at times.

If you have a wyevale near you they reduce their seeds to 50p a packet any day now. More Veg is worth a look, small packs but cheap so you try different things without waste. Premier seeds direct on ebay I have found to be very good.

Chiltern Seeds http://www.edirectory.co.uk/chilternseeds/ have a slogan "Grow Something New From Seed", so if you're looking for something a little unusual you may find it there. They had a "33% off" offer for web-based orders last autumn, I don't know if that will be repeated. They've got a lot of the "usual stuff" as well, their prices seem to be competitive, the seed quality of the items I've bought has always been good and their dispatch is prompt.

My preferences:

http://www.edwintucker.com/ (http://www.edwintucker.com/)
mainly for their reasonable shipping charges on seed packets

http://www.realseeds.co.uk/ (http://www.realseeds.co.uk/)
I just like their philosophy

http://www.alanromans.com/ (http://www.alanromans.com/)
for potatoes

Another vote here for Wyvale's sale.

Wilkinsons have got some of their own brand seeds for 10p/packet right now.  Nothing very exotic but I bought a few packs of quick salad leaves and some aquadulce claudia beans to plant this year.

Also, look out an markets etc.  Last year a few traders had Suttons seeds at 4 packs for £1.  And they had the full range including Senshyu onions which you usually have to buy from Suttons website.  They are good seeds.

Some of the supermarket packs aren't bad actually - my neighbours get a lot of their seeds from Aldi and although the range doesn't look very exciting, they are all the tried and tested reliable old performers e.g. the peas are Kelvedon Wonder and the carrots are Autumn King.  Wilkos and Morrisons seeds appear to be the cheap end of the Mr Fothergills/Johnsons range and B&Q's seeds are Suttons in different packing.  So don't dismiss the supermarkets if they have something you want.

I am a newbie too - started last year and I thought: why do people grow the same stuff year after year when there are so many new varieties to try?  Now I think: people keep growing Hurst Greenshaft peas because they taste very nice, regardless of all this new and improved stuff.

Thanks everyone . I have spent most of the evening on the websites. Can't fine a wearvals near by  me but the sites have some pretty good viraties on offer. Have started my wish list it's a bit like Xmas looking at the pictures online of what I could grow. Think I am going to have a section of plot for a couple of new try me veggies next year can't wait. ::)
