a friend of mine has 3 hens and they are eating their own eggs she has tried the false egg and mustard trick any help would be great .

Hi a friend of mine has two chicken that are eating their own eggs. I wondered if a solution was found to stop them

Very difficult to stop.  This was my post from a few years ago with the same problem.  ended up culling the flock  and starting over:

Thanks Kt interesting thread sorry that you had to go through it all. I will pass on the tips from the thread and I know she has no intention of culling them, no matter what. If there any positive results I post on here

I've got the same problem and Ive done the false egg that made one go broody, and the mustard egg didn't work for me :(   don't want to kill them if i can help it :(

Once chickens have got into taste with eggs it's really difficult to teach them otherwise.
Other than getting the eggs from nest first..or literally taking them as they 'drop' out, there is not much else to do. All the mustard tricks etc. are useless.
I keep couple of golf balls in each nest box all the time..sometimes they get odd egg with thin shell and those break easily and often can start the bad habit. My theory with golf balls are that they are preventative rather than cure. When chickens lay in nest they weight is on the golf balls and not on weak egg that break easily.. ;)
So far it's been working for me..
