Sherry + Vinegar??
Don't understand Tim sweetie XX Jeannine
Tim, you can buy sherry vinegar in the same way as white wine vinegar or cider vinegar. I would have thought you could substitute the sherrry vinegar with white wine or cider vinegar - I have done so in the past without any problems.
Indeed, but not locally. And I'm not driving 10 miles for 1 1/2 tbs!!
It's for Tomato Tarte Tartin. Maybe I'll just put a drop of Sherry in the Cider Vinegar & hope.

Never mind the vinegar mix it`s all to do with cold hands and the pastry for that.
Tomato tarts?-why do you think I offer my `Heritage ` varieties?
Sorry I have a twisted sense of humour ;D
It will absolulutely fine with cider vinegar - like the idea of adding a touch of sherry, although I think I might keep the sherry and have a glass whilst the Tomato Tarte Tatin cooks ;)

Is that the recipe that was in the Sunday Telegraph Stella magazine a week ago?
If so, it looks really delicious, and I'd appreciate your posting how you got on with it. ;D
Again, if it is, to answer your original question, there's plenty of sugar in the recipe, so to offset the sweetness, I think cider vinegar would do the trick, without the addition of sherry.
How did you get on?
