Title: bolted carrots
Post by: aquilegia on August 15, 2010, 17:11:16
My carrots are bolting. I've pulled them all up now so we can eat the ones that haven't.

But why have they bolted?

They are chantenay red cored and early nantes. Is it just because they've been in too long? I sowed them in April. But some of them are still pretty small.

Normally it is combination of things..like long enough dry period so the carrots have been 'dormant' and not put any growth on..and as ground has become moist again....they start 'another' growing period...which would bring seed formation on...
