Title: Food flask
Post by: shirlton on August 12, 2010, 13:26:25
Can anyone tell me where I can get a food flask. We got one from wilkinsons but I don't think it was meant to keep the food any hotter than warm. We don't want a great big one. Just big enought to get 2 helpings of soup in.

I googled and came up with lots of suppliers - this one seems to be the cheapest and is versatile too.

Walking shops, including millets sell them.  I have a wide mouth "lifeventure" one.  It's great for rucksacks or the car.  It's one of the "unbreakable" types - i.e. no glass (which some cheap ones still have) and is metal rather than plastic so it keeps food/drinks hot all day as long as I preheat it (any that remains sometimes is warm the next day if I forget to clean it in the evening :-[ .)  It's wide enough to take thick soups and use spoons to eat out of.  Would be easy to use with stews, etc too.

Mine is this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lifeventure-Stainless-Steel-Mouth-Vacuum/dp/B00125A566/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&s=sports&qid=1281617234&sr=8-7 but they are cheaper than this in walking shops.  They tend to come in sizes around .3l, .5l and1l.

You do need to look around in shops to find good ones.  you DO get what you pay for with flasks...

good luck  :)

We finished up getting a thermos from the local Argos for £16-99. Its a 1.2 litre food flask but has a stainless inside so cannot break the glass. Gauranteed for 10 years. Its  Thanks for all the info ;D
