Title: Darwin barberry
Post by: Jeannine on August 08, 2010, 11:16:18
I believe we have lots of these bushes in our apartment gardens, I  think I have have identified it as above, leaves resemble holly and right now they have a very heavy crop of berries on that are very similar to blueberries, they even have the dusty look.

Googling tell me they can be used for jam and taste a bit like black currants.

Is there anything else that looks similar that may be toxic.

Help appreciated, they are loaded with fruit.

Yes that is the one..I am a bit cautious in case there is another similar one that may be nasty .It seems a shame to waste them

Well you could always try the old Stoneage thing and feed some to your granny. If she survives then................
