Betty gave me the plant but has anyone got an idea what it is please?
Don't know what it is, but it's definitely not a Bonbon, which is what I thought I gave you!
;D ;D ;D
Neither have I ;D But I like the way you have labelled the plant :) my labels are now all hidden by the plants themselves so it's a right pain when I want to figure out what is what!
1066 :)
We have to label everything so that we can see what is or has been planted in the space cos by the time next year comes we both will have forgotten what the hell was there.
I grew some Golden Delicous which looked like the one in your photo. It is theone on the top left.
I have boston winters that looked like that but are now orange.

:)
(http://i521.photobucket.com/albums/w337/millgriff/mypictures055.jpg)(//) looks like onion pumpkin
Its getting bigger by the day so when its grown to its full size we will all have good idea as to what it is I think
my potimarron look like that with white stripes..before they go 'proper' orange ;D
I would agree about Potimarron actually at first glance XX Jeannine
Would that make it a winter squash that will store Jeannine?
wether it Potimorron or Onion they both store beautifully. Huw much does it weigh do you think XX Jeannine
I will pick it up tomorrow thats if it ain't got too bloomin big ;D
From my plot this year, Potiomarron, Muscade and Boston Winter all start out like that.....
Its got bigger and I can hardly pick it up. ;D ;D ;D
Not looking in my files, but I think off the top of my head Pottimarron gets to about 8 pounds.XX Jeannine
Nah its heavier than 2x 8lb babbies ;D
Ok.back to the drawing board ;D ;D That stem does not look angular , it looks round ,if it is it makes it much easier..am I right? XX Jeannine

A nice big close up for you with a 12" rule at the side. This was taken yesterday so it may be even bigger ;D
did it start out life very yellow and has only just started to go orange?
Yes the first pic looks a lot yellower than the last one. Have you got any idea then 1066
well it was only becasue when I was on my plot the other day some of my Rouge Vif D'Etamps had changed from the bright yellow to a deep orange colour that made me think of it. I wonder if Betty got the seeds from a swap because I know I did put some of those seeds in. Here's a pic of 1 of mine from a couple of weeks agao (before the orange phase!)

1066 :)
Well I think that you could be right there cos It did come from Betty. ;D
on 2nd thoughts maybe not cos mine aren't as pointy at the top (if you see what I mean) they are flatter, but they had those white stripes and are now orange.
A photo from today might explain a bit better!

Oh well back to the drawing board ;D
Definatly not that one..far too round.XX Jeannine
It could be a potimarron cross..
This is very puzzling.
I didn't sow seeds of any of the varieties mentioned so far and nothing I am growing looks anything like Shirl's.
I sowed a whole packet of Bonbons, but I can't remember now if anyone sent me Bonbons in the seed swap which I might also have sown.
It will be interesting to find out what it is!
It,s a Triffid squash, appears when you haven't grown it and is a mystery to all..don't get too close !!
XX Jeannine
Do we eat it or not :-\
It,s more likely to eat you ;D

It could be a potimarron cross..
I think that sounds likely, or even just a large Potimarron, mine are much smaller than Shirls tho :D
