Title: Allotment Hives
Post by: Karen Atkinson on July 29, 2010, 08:13:45
Me and my daughter have developed hive like raised spots after being down the allotment. Wasn't aware of being bitten and in truth, they're in places that were very much covered up.

Can something bite you, and you get skin reactions in other places??

You often don't notice a bite till later. Yes, things can bite you and cause reactions elsewhere, but normally that only happens when you get a serious reaction of the sort that would probably take you to a doctor or hospital. It could be a minor allergy to some plant you've come into contact with.

Parsnip leaves can also cause an unpleasant rash for some people, there are some posts on here somewhere about it.  I hope you both feel better soon.

I find radish leaves bring me out in a rash, but usually just on my arms where I've brushed past them. Take care, hope the rash goes soon.

why was I expecting a thread about bees?  :D

seriously, the list of plants that cause issues is a huge one, and not all folks react the same to the same plant.
