All the entries are in and our scarecrow competition will be judged soon. I thought it might be a bit of fun to ask people here to choose which they like best.
So, here they are (sorry, couldn't work out how to do it as a poll)

hard to choose, Betty but number 3 gets to me, I love the skirt ;D
mind you, I like 1 and 4 almost as much ;D
I just love number 4 Betty. ;D
I think they are all great... :)
No. 4 for me too. But what a chioce to make.
4 for me with 8 a close 2nd
I'd have to choose 8 as he is a personal friend of mine but love the legs on number 9 ;D
All brilliant and a very hard job to judge them.
Stone the crows it's a hard one to judge Betty, I think it's between 4 and 8 and the OH reckons number 3. :-\ ;D ;D ;D
Number 4 ;D
4 and 8 are my favourites.
When I saw no. 4 this morning I burst out laughing! The person who made it has really taken a lot of trouble over the detail and I just love it.
Yeah, #4. All great fun though.
1,4 and 8! But they're all very well done!
3, 4 and 8 - Hard to choose the winner though!
Tricia
Fantastic. Nos 4 & 8 for me. Glad I am not a judge.
I like 3 and 1. But I think they are all fab.
Just wonderful Betty ;D
I love no 3 for her skirt and no 6 cos it is so wrong!
1066 :)
Number for me - what a great bunch
Sorry Betty didn't realise that you were entering old Smithy. I thought it was the odd fella with him.
Of course Smithy should win with his charm
The two old guys sitting side by side solving the problems of the world XX Jeannine
What fun!
The swishy skirted gal in number 3 might actually help keep birds away
and number 9 is scarily real
but the two men in 8 are charming. Makes me think of Paul Simon's song Old Friends sit on a park bench like bookends.
8 for me - the cuddle does it ;D but they are all fantastic what a wonderful competition
i vote no 4. no 4 made me laugh with its legs crossed!! is no 1 worzel gummage and aunt sally? they are all brilliant and inspirational.
3, 4 and 8. Would find it difficult to choose one out of those. Brill.
For me is it 3,4,1 in that order. Everyone has made a huge effort with their scarecrows and they all look fantastic, so its hard to judge. I loved number 8 but think they look so cute they are more likely to attract the birds (and feed them) than scare any away! Well done everyone.
Have done a rough tally of those that clearly had made up their minds and the result is;
No.4 = dix pointe (10)
No.3 = quatre pointe (4)
No. 8 = quatre pointe (4)
How about a proper poll?

Thanks for doing that Tee Gee. I'd love to have a proper poll but I don't know how to do it.
Do A4A get a combined vote Betty looks like 4 leads the way with 8 chasing it down. ;D ;D ;D
;D ;D ;D
3
or 9
but all great
The competition was judged this morning, and the winner is........
no. 1 - Worzel and Aunt Sally!
no. 4, the mother and baby (and my favourite) came second
and
no. 8, the two old blokes (mine) came third.
Well done everyone!!!
Hey, so the two old blokes were yours, well done they are smashing. I would like to know how you did this compo thing, I think it would be really great to see if we could do it here..when etc..if you don't mind sharing your ideas.
XX Jeannine

Hi Jeannine,
It's really easy to organise. I made laminated posters for the notice board asking people to make a scarecrow and put it near the front of the plot before 25th July. Then the following week we asked someone unconnected with the allotments to come and judge them. In the past we have had our local councillor (who said it was the highlight of her year :)) the local police, a shopkeeper and this year the manageress of the local pub.
I'll
continue this in another reply, I've just got the problem of the text jumping while I type and it's a bit annoying as I can't remember how to put it right
(cont) We charge £1 each to enter the competition and the money is then divided between the first three. I won £2! The scarecrows are left in place until they disintegrate. Visitors to our Summer Fayre on Aug. 14 will be able to see them and I will put laminated certificates up next to the winners.
Did you see this late entry to the competition?

Thank you, I am going to put this one to our executive, it is too good to miss XX Jeannine
Sorry I'm a bit late but I chose 8 and 1 in that order......so Squash I apparently liked yours the best.
There is one scarecrow on our site that scares me everytime mainly because i mistake it for a real person. I think scarecrows are probably more use on humans than crows.
