Title: Late sowings.
Post by: grannyjanny on July 22, 2010, 09:05:02
As we have been so busy with daughters plot I am behind with seeds sowing. They use a lot of beetroot, will she get a crop if I sow soon. Having a day off today but much catch up with washing, ironing & housework or I shall be a knickerless, scruffy bag lady living in a pig sty ;) ;D.

The ground is warm and damp. You can sow  carrots - Paris Market (the small round ones are worth a try), lettuce and rocket, and summer radish. Spinach, chard and beetroot, cabbages and cauliflower - look at the sowing times to get the right sort.

I've just sown some beetroot "Pronto' and I know it is probably pushing it but we love it and we lost some early sowings to bolting and as the other came on quickly I reckon it will be ok - still sowing other root vegetables as well such as turnips, radishes, carrots, kohl rabi still good to go as well - here's to bag ladies  ;D

Morriscums were charging £1.29 for 3 'fresh' beetroot - less than tennis ball size.

Thanks every one. I shall get on with it at the weekend. I have clean knickers, a clean bed to get into, a cleanish house. It's taken all day but I do have to rest in between but get this, I had just eaten lunch & said I would  get started again when lunch had gone down when some cheeky so & so who was sat watching cricket sipping a glass of chilled Pinot Grigio said isn't it nice to have a lazy day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't know how I kept my cool.
