state of play today, just waiting for them to ripen, last year we got 3 total off this tree ;D
Even after the wind and rain yesterday there are still 4 on my tree - but they are well behind yours by the look of those in your picture. The tree itself has put on a lot of new leaf growth . Assiduously picking of leaves with leaf curl since the Spring has paid off and now the tree looks really healthy.
Tricia
We cheated, Tricia, Ray put a plastic 'roof' on the top of the fruit cage to protect the tree :)
They look nice manic, hope they taste as good as they look. Only got about a dozen in total on my 2, that late frost did the damage. The plastic on the netting is a good idea, might nick that idea, easier to keep in place I bet. I've got mine near the house under porch bit, but they're getting a bit big now for it.
I got a nectarine tree from aldi 2 years ago last year i got peach leaf curl on it which nectarine trees can get and all the fruit died off so this year i wrapped it in fleece to all the frost had gone picked the odd leaf with curl on it and I have how got about 9 PEACHES!!!! on it. think i got miss sold a tree but Neva mind the tree is doing very well.
Also when is the best time to pick the peaches?
ours is also a 'nectarine' tree from Lidl ;D
just read up about it, the fruit will come away easily when lifted up, the skin will have developed a red colour, if it doesn't come away easily, leave it another 2 or 3 days, hope the wasps stay away from ours ;D
thanks manic. hope the wasps stay away :)
talking about peaches, we bought a basket of Sun Haven peaches yesterday from a local fruit farm 17 peaches about the size of a large tennis ball, first of the season, $4, = 2 pound 47p, As these are the early peaches they are clingstone, not my favourite but they are very sweet
and juicy. qahtan
