Title: cauliflower problem

i grew cauliflowers from plug plants and they are all leaves no heart at all despite being huge the leaves are closing around as if a heart will grow inside but nothing yet any ideas? or am i expecting too much too soon?

They will heart up and from your description they are just beginning to do just that  :)

water every day - they love a drink, oh and stop looking at them, they are shy, it's a bit like watching a kettle boil......

thank you so much patience has never been one of my best attributes they look much like stage 1 (excellent piccies tee gee) how long on average does it take from stage one to stage 4 just so i have an idea of how patient i have to be lol

Well that can depend on a few things e.g. variety,weather,soil but I find three to four weeks is a pretty fair average!

I too have 3 at stage 2 and too am wondering when I can stop drooling and start eating.

Prompted me to take off the netting and peer inside the huge leaves - 8 large "autumn" cauliflower heads!
Environmesh walls = early maturing plants - keep your eye on the ball!!!!

I am envious! I have had to dig mine up today. They just did not heart up. Started off well and then seemed to blow open. This is my 3rd year and have not yet succeeded. Tips would be welcome.
