Title: Landmaster Super 88
Post by: Muddy Mick on July 15, 2010, 12:54:11
Hi all

I'm new to this site and have a question for anyone who may be able to help.

I have bought an old rotavator for use on my lottie only problem is the driveshaft is missing.
I need a replacement or the dimensions to fabricate a new one.
Also what material do I make a replacement out of?
Would mild steel cause to much torque?

Any info would be most welcome and appreciated.
Thank you all.

There is a rota like mine minus engine on fleabay but its too far away from me in deepest darkest Sheffield.
I will keep looking as mine looks a really nice little machine.

Thanks.

I am in Sheffield so it would be a bit of a hike for me to Oxford.

If it is the same d/s as mine would you consider posting?

Regards
Mick

Chris

I would really like to take it all for spares but I can't travel that far.
Shame it would've been ideal.

Just a thought, I'll be coming up to Castle Donington in early September, I'd be able to bring it with me and you  could pick it up.....I'll be there for a few days working at the Off The Tracks festival.....

Sounds good
Hopefully I will have a drive shaft before then but spares are always welcome for an old machine that is no longer in production.
How much do you want for it? and could I see a pic of it to see if it is the same as mine.

Cheers

Hi MM,

Guess a tenner will cover it if I take the engine off, though I must admist I was considering stripping it down for other bits (I'd like the tines for backup on one of my others for instance and the motor won't be there at all)

Hi CC

It's not the same as mine!
The one I have isn't a direct drive but has a drive belt down onto the shaft.
If I can figure out how to do it i'll post a pic.

Cheers Mick

For some reason unknown to me I can't post a picture like yours(embedded)
So I have made it my Avatar.

Having had a poke around at mine I might well try to get it running .... it's entertainingly "retro" attitude to health and safety has a certain naive charm....

Good luck with that Chris :)

I know what you mean I'll have to do a risk assessment on mine!
My search for a drive shaft will continue.
So if anyone out there can help? please drop me a line
All the best
Mick
