Title: pressie for new baby
Post by: lottie lou on July 14, 2010, 20:29:17
My niece who lives in Charlston, S Carolina has just had a baby boy.  Unfortunatley I can't think of what to buy the baby as a present - ideas please.  Also when she had her first baby I puchased something from an online shop who shipped it out to her - can't remember the shop (it was based in USA).  Any ideas please.  Sorry I am going through senior moments.

LL, many of the large US stores will sell Internationally, you could have stuff shipped to you and feel sure you could order online and have shipped to your neice. Two of the stores are Sears and JC Penney, both general department stores, think Lewis but much bigger, they both have online catalogues. If I can help find anything out for you let me know but Google these two, good place to start.Make sure you get the US ones and not the Canadian.

Thank you Jeannine.  I was after a name of a store.  Still got to think of what to buy though - when I was younger hand knitted matinee jackets were the order of the day.  However S Carolina I believe can be quite hot even in winter.

How about some books? I've bought a few books for friends' babies over the last few years and they've been really appreciated as most of them had been overwhelmed with clothes and toys. If you buy from amazon.com it shouldn't cost too much for shipping. I think they even have an option to giftwrap. x

Hiya
its a dilema as clothing is such a matter of individual taste.
Ive had many freinds have new babys and heres what ive found the most useful and used

1. theres a baby first aid book by miriam stoppard that i bought for mum and dad (around £6 from amazon)
2. those mobiles that go over the cot or those mats with the things dangling from them for downstairs
3. books. my best freinds babys favoarate was aliens love underpants a really fun colourful book, but things like the hungry catterpillar - if you go on the internet and type in childrens books age 0-2 you should find lots of reviews that will help you.
4. if you know them well you can get baby grows and bibs with photos printed on them
i bought one that had a photo of me and "aunty kathryn rules!" on it but you can do anything you want.

just a few things that have worked for me recently.
good luck with finding and postinga gift - bear in mind that any parcel heavier than 2kg will be very expensive to post. amazon do a wrap and messege service and the item can be easily posted to an international address.
