Title: Carrot fly fleece question
Post by: sawfish on July 12, 2010, 20:08:25
I've had fleece on my carrots for a couple of months now to stop carrot fly. Is it late enough now to take the fleece off?

I read somewhere that the carrot root fly has finished laying be the beginning of July, I think that is depending where you live in the country it may vary a bit. The problem in my area is that the little grubs hatch into flies and then they start laying again in September, you just can't win. I think you could take the fleece off now but any late sowings will need to be covered by September.
