Planted 4 trees, pear, cox apple, bramley apple and one I don't know what it is. Growing well, got from Morrisons about 5 years ago. Anyone got any ideas what it is.
need a really large detailed picture of the leaf, and if there is any, a really large picture of the buds and flowers.
From what I can see there it could be any of:
Alder
Mock orange
Strawberry Tree
Crab Apple
Damson/Whitebeam (impossible to tell from leaf, need to see flowers)
Are the leaves growing of the stem alternate ( one on one side then one on the other ) or opposite (two leaves together in a Y)
more better piccies needed, exp of buds and flowers.
I can see the leaves are alternate.
Im 90% convinced its some sort of Crab Apple. The veins are too far apart to be pear or damson.
if the flowers looked like this then im 99% convinced

compare it to damson

and a stock crab apple piccie

No flowers, no buds.
ok, my money is on a Crab Apple of some sort :D
I am sure I bought it as a fruit tree, cherry, plum or whatever, but will have to wait and see if anything happens. It is growing leaves well, and was only cheap from Morrisons and the pear, and two apple trees are fantastic, so give it another year or it will get the chop.
There all very similar, thats why you need to compare the buds and the flowers:
Cherry tree

Plum

Looks like it could be a plum tree to me, especially looking at the growth on those branches. It is possible that it did flower this year, but you may not have noticed because they may all have been lost very quickly in the late frost we had round here - most of mine went.
