My Discovery apple tree as usual has a huge number of apples two or three in each bunch and it does not drop any. So I pick off huge numbers of under ripe fruit. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do with them please. They end up in the compost bin.
I use these apple thinnings to make jellies. Good ones for the current produce available are plain apple jelly, mint jelly, sage & apple jelly, rosemary & thyme jelly. I usually freeze a few blocks of cooked pulp to make chilli jelly later on too. Can be added to other fruit to help set jams that don't set easily.
Thank you for your suggestions. Actually I made some sage and apple jelly last year.
I thought I would see if I could google a recipe for these and sure enough there is one for cider
