Title: Growing vegetbales in Leicestershire
Post by: smithyveg on July 08, 2010, 18:50:26
The National Vegetable Society NVS is a registered charity dedicated to advancing the culture, study and improvement of vegetables offering help and advice to novice and expert show grower alike.

I am hoping to form a Leicestershire & Rutland District Association of the National Vegetable Society and welcome any new members who may want to join us. The meeting venue has yet to be decided but will be somewhere fairly central, probably Leicester.

The aim is purely to meet up 4 or 5 times a year to 'talk veg' and swap tips. There will also be guest speakers and organised trips out to visit the gardens of other veg enthusiasts. First speaker will be David Thornton, National Secretary of the NVS sometime in the New Year.

Whilst the NVS has strong links to the show growing fraternity any grower will be made more than welcome and can only improve their produce by listening to the methods of the top showmen. All produce placed on the showbench should be in tip top condition and whilst it has often been grown to the extreme it is more nutritious than anything you can buy from a supermarket.
