Post by: caroline7758 on July 02, 2010, 20:34:30
One of my tomatoes has several leaves that are like lace- what do you think has been eating them?

Could be all sorts of things....probably the larvae of some beetle or fly...have a good look around and under some other leaves, you are bound to find the culprits I expect.

If you do find something, take a picture and post it.

If you find anything and they look a little like leeches....they are from the sawfly.I found some today and squished them in my fingers!

Glad I saw this thread.
Just discovered the same 'lacelike' leaves on some of my greenhouse toms. Upon turning one over, the underside was covered in small grey caterpillars & like Fork said, just like gooseberry sawfly.
Do they not strip the leaves as they do with gooseberries?
Squished em!

Mine were like tiny green caterpillars- what would they be?
