Title: after garlic?
Post by: aquilegia on June 27, 2010, 18:49:21
What can I put in after my rather miserable garlic?

I am planning on: broadies followed by purple sprouting broc; spuds followed by broadies.

Is it too late to sow parsnips, carrots and beetroot? (I don't mind baby ones!)

What do you do?

my garlic has been followed by squash and lettuce , the squash were planted at the end of the bed and, now the garlic is out, they have lots of room..the lettuce are around spaces  where I can fit them  ;D

There is plenty of time to sow more carrots and beetroot.. ;D..I do some too..
I'm not sure about parsnips...and why not ;D..you should at least get some 'babies'..
I'm planning to put some  brassicas after garlic.. ;) I've got some kale, swede, turnip, kohl rabi and winter radishes still to go in..any of those can be still sown..
And I've got some left over packets of lettuce seed which I mixed all together..so sometime later on I'm going to just 'chuck' those in and see what comes through.. ::)..they will only end up in bin anyway..waste not..want not.. ;D

Thanks

Manic - I planted my squashes already. Will try some lettuce though, when it cools down a bit!

GL - I don't like any of those brassicas you mentioned. I'm only really growing PSB (should've said that in my original post!) But good to hear about the carrost and beetroot. And I'm quite happy with baby parsnips (I doubt my clay will grow much else anyway!) and being as the seed won't last until next year anyway, I'll chuck those in too!

Thanks!

Hi, Anne..the beets etc will be following onions, the onions and cabbage go outside, we're just pulling the long red florence from september planting, greyhound we use small as spring cabbage and leave some to heart up, if we can keep the pigeons off all winter  ;D
