Title: Buggering blackfly !!!!
Post by: mpdjulie on June 26, 2010, 10:11:54
I have blackfly on my courgette flowers.  I have never seen this before.  They have only appeared the last 2 days.  They are not on the courgettes themselves.  Will they affect the growth of the courgettes or plants?  Is there anything I can do to get them off non chemically as I grow organically?

I wouldn't worry about it.  Had it bad last year once they'd decimated my BBs they moved onto everything even my potatoes and parsnips  ??? , but they soon got sick of the squashes, didn't seem to enjoy them and quickly fizzled out.

Just brush em off, they'll soon be gone in my opinion.

If you plant some sacrificial Nasturtium around your plot, the blackfly tend to prefer them, unless you can get some going now, it might be a good plan for next year. :)
