I have been invited to take part in a 'Health Information Day' at our local church hall. It is being organised by the primary care trust and they asked me to take part because allotments are 'healthy'.
The person who phoned me has never seen me so obviously doesn't realise that I am not an advertisement for healthy living :o
I'm taking Grandad Scarecrow with me for company, a few tomato plants, some rhubarb and leaflets about the advantages of an allotment for anyone who is interested.
The church hall is just a few minutes away from our allotments so we might get more people added to our waiting-list today. Or maybe not, after they have met me!
Sounds like fun ;D
Hardly anyone turned up!
Such a shame for the organisers, a lot of work organising it and probably no more than 8 people went to it.
I enjoyed it........ ate 2 (free) baked potatoes, plenty of coffee, biscuits, free mugs to take home, pens, step counter, travel mug, shopping bags etc.
I only took a few things with me to sell, and managed to sell a very small tomato plant for £5! I told her it was too much but she insisted, it's going to our funds so I didn't feel guilty.
You can see from the photo how quiet is was...

(all the cars belonged to people taking part)
I hope grandad had a nice time too ;D.
What a shame after all that effort.
Agree with Betula, such a shame (wonder if we can blame it on football?)
what a shame, but I'm sure the organisers appreciated your efforts! (and a great photo to go with the story as always :D )
1066 :)
Perhaps the people don't want to be healthy Squash
I couldn't believe the lack of interest from the locals. The church hall and grounds are opposite a small housing estate and the organiser put leaflets through every door a few days before.
Considering the fact that almost everyone I speak to at the allotments wants to discuss their health with me (why?????) I found it strange that hardly anyone turned up.
Never mind, I enjoyed the baked potatoes! :)
