I measured the below today and one of the runners from the Queensland Blue (surrounded by the brown ring) is already 15 1/2 feet long. (http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y253/nonrancher/squashqueenlnd.jpg)

Now that you mention it the color is weird. The lattice work has a cedar stain which isn't so orange. the mulch is made of sticks we shredded and is more of a tan color than orange. The leaves are darker green than that and the squash flowers should be bright yellow.

Ooooh I love looking at other plots too  ;D

I think there were 4 plant of different types growing along there, Queenslands, vegetable spaghetti, Jarahdale and butternut. The other varieties were grown on plot 2. I try to keep to a maximum or 4 fruits per plant.

Sown on 31st March and planted on the plot in June.

Part of the result (excuse the messy understairs cupboard  ;))

GrannieAnnie - I really want to know, when on earth did you sow and plant that out and with what kind of protection?  I can't believe the size of it already, considering the lousy weather we had earlier on.  Mine are so small and now being battered by the North Easterly wind  :'( wondering if they'll ever make it.

Jarahdale pumpkins! I haven't eaten them since I was in Oz! They are terrific! I am growing Qld Blue too! They give the neighbours something to talk about. I let them romp all round the compost bins, usually the vines are several metres long. I got 4 fruits last year which was great. They taste wonderful.
This year I am also growing Butternuts, little Hooligan squash to amuse the kids and Trident pumpkins which are those big grey ones that look like they have collapsed in on them selves! I put them round the edges and let them run all over the place!

Sorry to worry you- I've just now added below my avatar that I'm in Delaware. Did have it on the map forum but that wasn't obvious enough.

The Queensland Blue is planted beside Crown Prince...maybe one should have been planted in the neighbor's yard?  And last night I noticed in another squash patch I somehow planted a trombone squash near a butternut and it is taking over the whole area and is covered with little trombones- hate to pull it but it has to go.
