Title: Holes in rhubarb leaves
Post by: colt on June 13, 2010, 11:37:05
Hi a pal of mine is trying to find out what is eating his rhubarb leaves. The holes are in the middle and not from the edge of the leaf also being attacked is his cabbage too. Does anyone know what it could be? He is not bothered about the rhubarb only wants to know out of interest.

Thanks

My rhubarb is the same and I suspect caterpillars, especially for the cabbage. I've never bothered to look for any caterpillars on it as it doesn't really matter!

I have found various things eat Rhubarb leaves especially slugs and snails which love mountaineering during the night and often eat holes rather than from the edge it seems.

The rhubarb leaves are inedible for humans so let the bugs thrive. They are leaving edible greenery which we can enjoy alone. It wont effect the stalks which we love.
