I have nine young strawberry plants all flowering and some with immature strawberries on them. Currently they are in the clover shaped stackable strawberry pots but I want to give them their own bed. I was planning on covering the bed with weed fabric, cutting slits in it and planting through and then covering with straw. Is this advisable with the plants at this stage?

Yes that will be fine, you are just giving the plants room to spread their roots. You many not get large strawberries this year but they are hardy plants and will probably enjoy the extra space more than be troubled by the move. water well when you plant them.
One tip when using weed fabric is to make the holes in the soil for planting first. Keep the soil in a tub for filling in as you plant
Cover with fabric. Then feel for the holes, cut a cross in the fabric and add plant.
It is hard work digging through the fabric and a tendancy to make bigger holes than needed is likely. So, pre-made holes in the soil make the job slightly easier.
Thanks for that. I wouldn't have thought of pre digging the holes. You've just saved me alot of 'annoyed' time.
