Title: Herb garden
Post by: cambourne7 on June 08, 2010, 09:27:17
Hi all,

Extream right hand side of garden will be herb garden.

I have rock filled sandy/clay mixed soil and was planning on
laying weed membrane (couch grass) and planting into this with a mulch of fresh wood chips from tree surgeon and a top dressing of well rotted ones from homebase. Is this a good plan ? What's the implication of using fresh wood chips in this way.

In this area will be my rhubarb ;) and a fruit tree (better soil for that) any tips for shade loving herbs for under the tree?

any comments on the soil

Borage and mint tend to do well in semi shade and damper areas.

Lemon balm grows well in shade but it's a terrible thug......
