Title: watering and organic feeding guide?
Post by: aquilegia on June 05, 2010, 17:15:04
Can you recommend a good online watering and organic feeding guide?

I never really know when it's best to feed and water things, so I probably do it too much to be on the safe side!

On the watering side, these might help:

This Which Guide assumes you use growmore as a fertiliser though, buit the watering bit isn't bad.
The Garden Organic info is less specific:

http://www.gardenorganic.org.uk/guidelines/water/index.php

The problem in producing an overall guide is that soils vary so much - clay soil will hold water better than sandy soil for instance.
I was given the guide that the clay soil where I am needs a minimum of an inch depth of water every week, but this was a rough guide and depended on how wet the winter had been. Also we are gardening only a couple of foot above the water table here so that may affect things too.
