Is white plastic or white anything suitable to cover ground to kill weeds?

I'm not an expert but I would have thought it would let too much light through, unless you covered it with something darker

can you get hold of any cardboard? if so you could put that under the plastic to make doubly sure?

whatever you use it has to block out all the light and block out all the rain. White plastic, by its very nature, doesnt do both of those.........

Just checking. A plot on site today was covered in white plastic & very thick fleece & weighted down. Can only assume they are trying to kill the weeds.
