Title: Nettle roots???
Post by: nilly71 on June 03, 2010, 21:34:33
I've recently started to clear a nettle bed and even though i have got rid of the big roots, there are loads of small thin yellow roots.
Is it ok to leave these or will they grow into nettles?

They will grow!

They'll grow, but just weed them out like any other weed.  Grow something that'll cope with a bit of competition like tatties or sweetcorn.

I put some nettle roots that I dug up near my shed to use as feed - I have a lovely patch now.  Nettles one side - comfrey the other. :)

Hiya.
I used some that I dug up today as 'string' to tie bamboo canes together. It usually lasts a year or so, and is free.

1 cm of nettle root  = another nettle. You have to be ruthless to be nettleless.
