Title: poorly tomato leaves-what's wrong?
Post by: gwynnethmary on June 01, 2010, 09:31:32

These are the tomatoes that were wilting in the hot conservatory- we moved them outside where they revived, but the leaves are now starting to look like this. What should I do?  Any help would be most appreciated.

well i just looked in my veg book and its got two examples which look like that, the first which looks most the same is a "magnesium deficiency"  says spray with epsom salts or use a foliar spray containing magnesium.

and the other is mosaic virus which says you have to destroy the plant.

I'm no expert but those two are the ones that look most similar, hopefully someone will be a long with a definite for you

More like deficiency...as your plants have been in hot conservatory you've had to water them lot too...and lots of water causes all sort of problems..but in this case all nutrients will be so diluted that leaves are first to show signs..
There is nothing to worry though..you have done right..they are out and steadier watering and a bit of feed will sort them out..those leave are quite likely stay as they are but it doesn't mater..as long as there is plenty of good green leaves and the new growth is fine.... ;)

I have the same problem on some of minemine - probably a similar cause, ... I had them under 5 litre water bottles (a sort of mini green house) and it was blatantly too uncomfortable for them during the recent warm spell.

As mentioned above, the plants will recover ok.

Jeannine 100% spoton..thats the classical sunscald, I nearly lost all my pumpkins 10 days ago, left them a little to longer on the window with belting sun on them. They should recuperate with no problems those tomatoes

Give them a drink of Epsom Salts 1 tablespoon to the gallon  or 1 t/spoon for every foot of the plant
