Title: How to grow melons ?
Post by: macmac on May 30, 2010, 09:56:09
My friend just phoned and asked us how to grow melons ?
We have no real experience ('don't even like eating them )but I said I would ask you folk.
She will have to grow them (2 plants Canteloup she thinks ),in containers against south facing wall .It's a warm sheltered spot.
So how big for the pots ?What kind of compost? What support?and do you have to "prune/pinch out"at any stage?
Thankyou in anticipation  ;)

Melons?-hee hee time for some innuendo.

Let them grow for a bit but then tie them up.  Pinch out the leaders after a few leaves and play a soft brush between male and female flowers cos they is shy and never mate if one is looking.

And with luck??
