Title: Fishing
Post by: Philbasford on May 26, 2010, 09:26:35
Am of down to Pembrokshire end of June for a weeks camping via the Brecon beacons for tonights stopping in a good pub that does plenty of real ale ;D

They have permits for a stretch of river that holds trout, salmon and sewin (sea trout).  They allow fly and spinning (i cant fly cast but i can spin and do all other methods quite compently...)

However you can only use a centre pin real (i.e a fly real) to spin with.  Ive never used one and wondered if anyone could tell how easy they are for spinning with.  Odd rule!

Casting will be a pain as the reels are bound to overrun,(plenty of practice beforehand should help) but I do believe you can get a centrepin that twists and casts like a fixed spool, flicking it back  into place to reel in.

Don't forget your rod licence, for whichever type of fishing you choose.
Big fines if caught without one!

Thanks to both:)
I wont, will get a 3 day one, the rest of time ill be right on the coast so wont need one:)

ACE: do you have any idea how much one of those reels might cost, i would go to my local tackle shop but they are mega rude, when you go in its like they dont want you to be there unless your one of thier mates!!

Something like this should do the trick, or just get a cheap trotting reel and let the lure trot down river and spin it back.
