Title: Enterprising lad!
Post by: caroline7758 on May 23, 2010, 11:08:32
Read in the Guardian money section about a couple of successful new horticultural businesses. This one was started by lad inventing a natural slug repellent when he was doing his A-levels! He's offering free seeds too!

This is the Guardian article:

Seems like now is the time to come up with Grow-your-own related inventions, so get your thinking caps on!

Inspiring stuff!  I've ordered a 10kg bag of the antislug barrier granules.

As for ideas......how about an inexpensive ground source heat exchange system for heating polytunnels and greenhouses?

Wouldn't you end up with a veggie plot full of granite chips at the end of the season?

I tried them and have to say I was very disapointed.  The product is not 'sharp' and wasn't even washed  :o  Reminded me have some builders rubble ground down a bit into pea sizes.  Its done nothing to deter the slugs from my beans either!

I'm making beer traps this week.....grrrrrrrr
