Title: Twinkle peas - self supporting?
Post by: Hyacinth on May 22, 2010, 21:04:44
True or false - anyone know?

The packet blurb says that if they're planted in blocks, they are...

I've had great germination but if they really do need support I reckon now's the time to put it in.

Thanks.

Depends how tidy you like things

They don't grow very tall but if it turns windy they will be blown over - so a bit of support, something like a canes at each of the row and string either side of the peas should do it.

Almost, the first 12" of growth supports itself well, by the time they get to 18" they are a bit lop-sided, when they hit 2' a slight breeze is all it takes to knock them over & they don't get up again.
I would put some support in if I were you.

Thanks both........it really helps to get a more realistic perspective of  stuff past the ad blurb!
