Sitting by my pond having my lunch a few minutes ago I was lucky enough to watch a dragonfly hatching! The larva was an ugly, beetle-type thing - not much more than an inch long - you can see it on the stem just above the dragonfly. The dragonfly. with its wings extended, is about four inches! My snaps aren't much good but I just wanted to share my moment of magic!

Thanks for sharing the moment of transformation with us. :D
I'd give my eye teeth (to quote my Mum) to see that esp if I had my camera..

I'm glad you enjoyed the snaps - it really was a very special and exciting thing to watch. I'm so lucky to have seen it. I've just posted an update - (and better pics!) - as 'Flight of the dragonfly' if you'd like to have a look. xxx
