we have just found out that the land on which our allotments are on which is leased from the county council to the parish council has been given away to build houses on.
this land has been allotment land for at least 30 years but up until 2 years ago didn't have any water and because of this it was overgrown with hardly anyone interested in taking a plot ,so we formed our own allotment society and we managed to get several grants to get the water turned on and fences erected and with a lot of hard work we got it all cleaned up and now all 15 plots are in use with a waiting list.
do we have any rights to be able to stay or can they just evict us, the lease on the land is up next year >:(
The National Association, NSALG will be able to advise you, good luck, hope you can fight them off :)

The short answer is that if the land is leased off a private individual, theres nothing you can do. On the other hand if its public land (ie owned by the County Council) then they cant change the use of it and stop using it for allotments without the approval of the Home Secretary.
You need some big legal guns to shoot them down with, contact NSALG asap.

Surely that depends on whether the allotments are statutory or not.
the land is owned by the county council then leased to the parish council and we pay rent to the parish, not sure if the allotments are statutory or not there are other allotments which the parish own the land.
we applied to join the nsalg only last week then this has happened so we will see what they come up with.
the county council now have a 49% share in the land and the other 51% has been passed to a development company called "keepmoat" i think the idea is they build houses on the land and the profits are split with the councils share supposedly going back into the local community.

there still trying to get round the law by giving a private company 51%, you need to make a legal challenge, u need legal big guns.
