Title: plain flour for pizza bases
Post by: Rosyred on May 19, 2010, 12:31:31
Silly twit me brought plain flour to make pizza bases when I would use bread flour. Has anyone used plain flour and did they turn out ok??

Also an ideas to use up another packet of plain flour would be appreciated too.

Add Baking Powder - (that is cream of tartar and bicarb, I think).  Available in most supermarkets and cheap.  Anyway this will turn it into self raising flour.  I used to use a scone base for my pizzas.

I always use ordinary plain flour for pizza bases.......for pastry and crumbles too, and 'proper' sauces.  What pizza base recipe do you use with bread flour, I'd like to try it.

Not only do I only use plain flour for pizza bases, I use mix half and half value with quality and use the same mix for bread.

I just buy whatever is cheap or on offer. I'm tight like that.  ;D

I make my regular white bread recipe but swap half the flour for  soft flour
ie- cake and pastry flour/ plain flour.
that makes the dough easier to roll flat and stay there instead of keep relaxing back like elastic....
I never use self raising flour for any thing, not sure if you can even buy it here...... qahtan
