Personally, I'd give a currant bush a couple of years before thinking about condemning it.   :)

Do you know if all three bushes are the same variety?
And are they all planted in the same area? (Just trying to think of potential differences between the three bushes)...

I bought 3 blackcurrant bushes a few years ago, the first year none of them bore fruit the 2nd year  two of them fruited the 3rd year they all fruited  Last year I had 14lb of fruit off them, Be patient they need time to settle down.

blackcurrants produce fruit on last year's growth, so if it was very small last year perhaps there wasn't enough growth for it to fruit.

Also, unless you work for Ribena, two reasonable sized  blackcurrant bushes will produce more than you can use!

... so why don't I ever have enough with five laden blackcurrant bushes?  ;)

That's one each to account for summer puddings, blackcurrant sorbet, lemon-and-blackcurrant cheesecake, honey and blackcurrant cordial, and a big batch each of jam and jelly (for home, friends and church fair).
And this year I'm planning to make creme de cassis.  :P

;D

We have a much-loved Christmas tradition of serving summer pudding (sometimes on the day itself; sometimes on Boxing Day). Much as I love Christmas pud, it's just a bit much at the end of a huge roast meal.

I make summer puds in the height of the berry season to freeze anyway, so this is just a matter of labelling one of them 'MITTS OFF TILL XMAS!' and wrapping it really well. Comes out perfectly - with that intoxicating fresh curranty aroma still intact in the bleak midwinter.

:P
