Hi forgot to say  -  Hapil are both prolific and reliable in dry conditions and have a good flavour as well .If you want the best flavour  -- gariguette (but not so prolific)

Sorry can't help very much, but I'm trying Mara des Bois this year. I almost decided to not grow strawberries any more as I couldn't find a really yummy variety. I have to admit I have been tempted by the great reviews they get and I can't wait to try them  ;D

I look forward to the results of your tastings Jayb. If I get them the will go in a hanging basket within the chicken run. The birds can't get them in there ;D.

Goodlife, they will be fine. The run is 5' 6" high so I can walk in there. They will not be getting any unless they buck their ideas up. Not laying enough. I spoke to the breeder this week & mentioned it. She said no treats until they start laying properly. They are not very impressed with me. Plus I've blocked the nest boxes off so they have to roost. I would love to hear what they say about me when they go to bed ;D ;D ;D.

;D  ;D ;D I sometimes think of the film Chicken Run, cos they do look like they are plotting some times, butter would not melt when they can see you looking though  ;D

I think your girls may attempt a little gymnastic or possibly aerobatic training when it comes to ripe strawberries! But only when you turn your back ;D

They will definately be plotting against me. No treats, not happy. They march up & down in the corner waiting.
