The first one looks like a hardy geranium or possibly a wild strawberry. Don't know about the second.

the first one looks like Common Avens, or a geranium, and the second one looks a bit like Herb Robert, another geranium

I'd say the second is herb robert. It seeds everywhere on my plot.

Both are weeds...or if you like them then they are not.. ::) and the first one, which I think has small yellow flowers..looks like either nippleworth or wall lettuce..both dandelion family..but annuals.
Second..well as others have said..herb Robert

..and you said that "it has broken through tarmac"..oh I think it is more likely that it has seeded itself into a crack..both of those plant are able to live and flourish in very small spaced with almost nothing to grow on..
There is not many herbaceous plants that are able to push through tarmac...

Thanks for all your replies at least I know I'm not destroying  valuable plants, I was worried as they came out too easily - in my book weeds hang on tight & only expensive stuff comes away when you touch it.
