Title: broadbean help
Post by: jokey on April 28, 2010, 13:23:20
hi all

only my second year growing broadbeans which went in late last year, lost some to the frost and put my backups in about Feb.  Anyway they are only half the height of last years with hardly any side shoots but are flowering already.

Should i just leave them be and see if they grow any taller or should i nip off the tops as they are flowering and don't want to encourage pests

does this make sense? ::)

cheers

jo

I say leave them alone. They will catch up.

Mine are only half as tall as usual too due to the hard winter, but like yours also flowering. I don't nip the tops off until I see the first blackfly!
