Title: PSB going strong but what next?
Post by: Digeroo on April 27, 2010, 12:04:20
Finally my psb has gone into production, early, mid and later all at the same time.  But it is very late and still taking up a huge amount of space, what can go in after it.   I have started intercropping with peas.

Sounds like a good idea, looks like psb will there for some time yet.

The normal crop rotation is for onions and roots after brassicas but the onions and roots are already in and the brassicas still there.  The five year rotation plan makes more sense, since it has courgettes pumpkins and sweetcorn after brassicas.  If I start putting the small courgettes between the brassicas then the psb can be pulled out before the squashes begin to take over.

I think that this year I will leave spaces between the psb with manure in it for the courgettes the following year.

You can still sow carrots at the end of May. That actually works rather well because they can grow in June July and August before the September spree of carrot root fly sets in. Swede can also go in for winter after the PSB is lifted.

May I add:  Be thankful you have PSB. This terribly cold winter caused it's total fatal decimation in some areas.
