Anybody any recommendations as to what size onions grown from seed should be before I plant them out on the Lotty? I have grown them in modules and they are currently about 4 inches high.
If the root system is strong and able to hold the compost together then your onions are big enough to out...as the weather has been so dry I would drop a bit of water in each planting hole befor planting to get your onion roots going and give another watering after to settle the soil..once tje root are growing the tops will follow.. ;) ;D
Agree with Goodlife, my Mammoth Improved were planted on the plot last weekend, about 4 inches tall. Dig a hole the same size as the module, water it well, pop the entire module in, back fill about another half inch above the stems and water again just to settle.
