.........up here int' Pennines ! Love it ! ;D
Getting kids in car, thermals on.....whats your address??!! ;D
Hehehe!!...........don't forget the brandy!! ;)
I was about to fall off my chair in shock. But then I read you're in the Penines and, well, I'm not quite so shocked.
It's been piddling down all day today. I'm not really expecting snow here in London. Although it is supposed to get down to about 5oC this weekend, during the day.
Not telling the kids otherwise I will be following you up DP! ;D
Oh EJ ! :( ...............you could've brought the whisky !! ;)
Can I bring my red sledge?
I still have it in mums loft!! ;D
Sam
5C Aqui........positively tropical !! We barely reach that in the summer ! ;D
;DSnow, whats that?...don't think we've had any real snow here for ages....now I sound like the railways..the wrong sort of snow...lovely to look at in the evenings, lights up the scenery, a real wintery winter, curl up with some hot chocolate, a toastie bun and a book......blimey whats got into me today, if I'm not being nostalgic, I'm in cloud cuckoo land...lack of gardening thats what it is.
Magpie - anything below double figures makes me freeze. I'm a southern pansy, with mediterrean blood. I haven't got my thermal gloves out yet - that'll be next week!
well, it's sleeting, definitely sleeting, here in leicestershire.
It`s not only in the Penines - there`s a good inch on my garden.
Now it's snowing!! fast!!
Has arrived here in the lowlands of Shropshire too.
And to prove it.

Cheer up, Eric! Go out and make a snowman. You can use a jerusalem artichoke for a nose! :P
And it was snowing here in Cambridgeshire 1/2hr ago!
S'not fair... I want some too. :'(
Here's one I took earlier 8)(http://img54.exs.cx/img54/9650/snowf2.jpg)
Don't usually have to get me thermals out until the new year but last night spent the 'doggie' walk battling against a snow shower :o Dogs love it though, youngest one was trying to catch the snow flakes as they fell. Milkman told me there was about an inch of snow in Stevenage which is just up the road from us here in Herts.
Hope your lovely plants are good and hardy Roy, think we are in for a hard winter :)
;DSee it all on the tele this morning, brrr..I love the pics.
Not a single flake of snow in Oxford :'(
None here in London. Well - what a surprise! We haven't had proper snow since I was 15 (that's nearly half my life-time ago!) All we ever get is half an inch, which then melts and freezes into a sheet of death the next night. :'(
It's blooming cold today. My fingers froze on the way to the station, despite having my gloves on (thermals were definitely needed). And we definitely had our first frost. The shed roof and the cars on our road were covered in ice (very pretty pattern it made too - kind of like artex, but nice!) But nothing on the ground (unless it'd melted by 8am, when I left the house).
nothing in Cornwall >:( its not even that cold :(
Sam
Great excitement this morning when the curtains were opened - an inch of snow! Bitterly cold! Have you taken your palms in yet, Roy? I took my Washington PALM in yesterday (thank goodness) and dahlias and cannas have also been tucked up for winter. The only thing I "forgot" to take in was my variegated spider plant in the hanging "horn thing" at the door (I secretly can't stand it!).
Spurdie, my Washingtonia palm is under the pergola that has a plastic sheet stapled to the roof, so are a few canna's, acers, gunnera, banana's and a couple of tender tree ferns.
The fern in the picture above and another one close by have straw in the crowns with a little fleece wrapped around the trunk now, as I saw on the weather forcast that we might get minus 5°C tonight :o at the moment (nearly midnight) it's just a tad below freezing our first freeze temp so far,Brrrr I'm ready for bed now hope my leccy blankets switched on. ;D
Snowned here this morning .....all turned to wet but definitely white stuff in the air and enough evidence on cars in Stow on the Wold where the wind really does blow cold! CLx
Snowing here in East Suusex, and it is beginning to settle! How exciting is that! ;D Think my fushias that I forgot to take in are non too pleased though! :-\
Nay Dottie P , you're just kidding us, so you can keep that bottle of 5 star V.S.O.P. all to yourself!!! ;D
No snow yet in Whitley Bay, but very frosty last night. We had another cloudless blue sky today, really chilly and crunchy underfoot at the allotment. Hear the temperature is set to rise in the coming week, so that will have been short lived. Still wondering if we are going to have this bleak arctic winter the forcasters have promised. :) busy_lizzie
No snow here in Dorset. Just lashings of rain at the moment though did have some wet snow for a time this morning. which tried to settle on the highest ground.
All I can say is: "Cold snap? What cold snap?" OK it has been cold in the last few days but there has been no frost to speak of, not even last night when they were forecasting -1 to -3 in the area! Back to wet and mild(ish) now.
I can only watch it on the telly, snow is very rare here on the Isle of Wight. I gave my son a sledge for is 3rd Xmas, he never used it until he was 12, we never used it again and he is 25 now.
