Title: sweet peas going brown
Post by: gwynnethmary on April 18, 2010, 19:45:09
planted out some sweet peas last week and the ones nearest the path seem to be turning brown.  Could it be over-watering/sun scorching the wet leaves/too cold at night?  The ones fUrther along the row look fine.

Quoteover-watering/sun scorching the wet leaves/too cold at night?

Could be either, all, or a permutation of any of the said list, plus the soil condition where the affected ones are could be slightly different from where the others are planted.

But if I were to guess I would go for 'sun'

What makes you think of over-watering? I would have thought they don't need watering so soon after planting ???

If they have been hardened off well I can't think it has been too cold for them!

it's been very dry- no rain for ages until today actually, so they did get a watering on Friday but it was very sunny at the time.  Will they recover do you think?
