Title: Use for ash (from incinerator not volcanic).
Post by: beckydore on April 18, 2010, 10:10:38
We had a fire last weekend and I have a bucket of ash. Am I supposed to use it on the earth around veg?? I'm sure there's something I should be doing with it but can't remember what at the moment.

Scatter it on anything which likes potash and doesn't mind a little lime.

you can use it straigth to crops like onions , brassicas....
but I make lovely mix of sieved garden compost , ash and fertilizer (chiken pellets or FFB) and then scatter that around...lovely job..you can almost see plants "pumping up their mussles"  ;D..and I bag extras (if left) up for use later on too... ;)
