....sausage casserole for dinner made with locally made pork and mustard sausages (from a farm in Maldon) celeriac, parsnip, salsify, scorzenera (sp??!!), onion and garlic all from my allotment, served with a home made loaf which is in the warming oven rising it's final rise as we speak!
After this lovely long growing season I am only just begining to resort to frozen veggies that I harvested in the summer as I can only serve Ava kale and winter veggies so many times a week. And, unfortunately, I have finally had to admit that I have no onions left and no spuds left, so off to the local market gardener chap on Friday to part with some of Ava's hard earned. Must do better next year!
Lucky old him!!
But isn't it retro when you have to go to 'that place' to top up on things?? = Tim
Aaah..Emma..Mmmm...mmm........................................................................................................................................................Ava! "Get in there and do the dishes man?"
I really must try harder then - we haven't had a single meal that's been completely out of the garden this year. Did last year. I have five tomato sauces in the freezer. Finished all the garlic months ago (I'm growing three times as much for next year!) :-\
And I did enjoy it.............loverly....... ;D ;D
I must confess the next day was a little on the windy side..... ;) ;) :o
Hope you appreciate that girl!!
By the way, Ava, is there a connection between your post above and the horse's actions in your new avatar?? ::) ;D ;D ;D
Nope, fraid not Wicker......
....however, I did feel that I wanted to lighten the tone a bit...... ::) ;D
