....digging a hole, a hole in the ground, so big and so round, and what did I find....
a sleepy newt
2 large white grubs
large pocket of clearish eggs, probably snails
1 large purple beetle
Sounds like a 'morning after' story ....
;DSo what you need is a purple beetle eater.....What is that song, Purple people eater? Anyone remember it?
"Close the door they're coming through the window" The purple spotted people eaters.
Purple beetle is almost certainly a friend who will munch up your slugs for you!
'There was a one eyed, one horned, flying purple people eater, sure looked strange to me!' I am a child again!
Good to know about the big beetle being a chum as there are lots scuttling around on the plot.
;DYeah thats it...I asked OH he looked at me as if I was mad...glad someone else remembers. ;D
Oh so that's what a purple-spotted people eater is. Does it have purple spots? Or is it purple with other coloured spots? I've often wondered!
The white grubs weren't vine weevil were they EJ?
;DThe Jury is still out on that. ;D
No Aqui, I know vine weevil grubs better than I know slugs and snails! These were BIG grubs, altho not stag beetle big.
I love all of those songs Val, thanks to my folks bringing me up with a rather ecclectic taste in music. One I haven't heard for yonks is Tommy Steele and his "Little White Bull'. Happy days! ;D
Oh yes Tommy Steels....Water, water everywhere not a drop to drink, oh what else can a poor fellow do but sit right down and think....la, la, de da.... ;)
