Last year I decided the JA's bed needed to be moved to another location as it was a bit close to the soft fruit and I think they had designs on spreading into it :o
What with one thing and another I didn't get around to a new bed but I did grow a couple of types of JA's in large Ikea blue bags. I used garden soil and once filled they were too heavy to move, lucky they were in a good spot at the back of the plot behind the greenhouse.
I'm very pleased with the results. So much so they are going in bags again this year even though they need watering it worked better for me and once/if I finally remove volunteers from the previous bed I'll be a happy bunny!
Any other ideas on how to keep them under control?
I don't really have not problem with JA spreading..mind thought you do have to give them a bit of spade and wellies once a year..
How about sinking you bag into the ground,,then maybe you need to water less,,use it like a barrier,,

A flame gun? Like your Ikea bag idea... I have some new tuber stock and a "sand" bag from the builders... :)
I've never had a problem with them spreading, and if I want to get them out of a patch I dig what I can find, then get the stragglers as they come up, and plant tender veg once they're all gone.
