I knit too :) I will send a pattern in with the Bisto:)
Jeannine they are beautiful and must take ages to make. :)
Thank you Hector that would be lovely. I do have a lot of shawl patterns if anyone is needing one, not all in such thin wool.
Thank you Tulipa, they do take a while as I knit slower than I used to. I don't seem to hold a pattern in my head so well these days , so am forever looking .
They are on reasonable size needles, the one on my Avatar is on a 3mm, so they knit up faster than you might think and they are much simpler than they look.
The pictures shown are off the patterns by the way. I will pop a picture of one in progress tomorrow if I can get John to do it.

Hi Jeannine
I was just looking at this thread and wondering why your thumbnail pictures when clicked on are the same size as your thumbnails? (does this make sense)?
Is it a problem at my end ? Usually the thumbnails come up bigger when I click on them.
Duke
Absolutely no idea, they are in my pictures on my laptop. Original pictures for these are from Jamieson and Smith, Shetland Isles whwre I get my wool from if anyone want s a closer look.
Any of my pictures off the net seem to come out that size, I don't know why as I used to get bigger pictures with the other laptop.. maybe I am doing something wrong..it is very annoying.
Someone did set my laptop to accept small pictures which I use from th net if I need a squash picture as I am putting a large file together, so maybe it can be changed.
I guess if I scanned in it may be different but then I scanned a tom a couple of days ago and it was the same.
Help anyone.

Hi
I work most of the time! :-\ Sometimes it is good, sometimes it is bad!
If I am not working, or at the allotment, I am working in my workshop, or going to steam/vintage rallies!
Cheers
Dave
Sit and watch the seeds grow on the window sill (which has OH absolutely doing his nut!!)
Watch the weather report and say feverishly "it's not going to rain on Saturday, do you see, look look, it's going to just be cloudy (hysterical giggling)

for my eldest for his second birthday in may :)
It is a lovely pattern isn't it, I have made the arc once or twice. I am very fond of Alan Dart's patterns and have rather a lot of them.. try Muffin the Mule, he is lovely. I keep meaning to do the Dickensian Mice.
Your son will love the arc, I put one in to our school and really enjoyed it, much nicer than hard plastic things.
Have you done any of his dogs.

Wow I am really impressed! Definately post some photos. I taught myself to knit last year. Can make a scarf LOL. I can just about cope with knit and pearl. ::)
Make wine....hic
What kind of wine do you make? I tried it back in the 70's..it made really good vinegar, I was totally useless at it, so well done to you.I always fancied raspberry. XX Jeannine
There was only once when I couldn't get to my allotment. There was so much snow on the ground that I couldn't even open the gate. I went home and played silly games on my computer. Then I phoned a friend and we went 50/50 on a night out.
I knit or do Tae Kwon Do :)

this is the first alan dart item i've made i'm almost done (his birthday is next month) just got the sewing up to do which is painstaking!
he's going to freak, he's very much into animals at the moment.
i just didnt realise quite how big it was when i started lol!
i've got pics now but if anyones still interested i'll post some when its done
Sparky, photos of Sheylagh shawl in progress.
It is worked from the outside in.
The border is made first..see close up border pattern (this one is quite wide), cast on edge and last row edge are grafted together, then using circular needle 940 stitches are picked up all round the border inside edge, then gradually work to the centre decreasing as you go. This one has just had the stitches picked up.
You cannot really see it well till it is finished, washed and stretched into place till dry, then the points etc are precise.
It will be square, just looks round at the moment.
XX Jeannine
Yes please I would like to see the pictures.XX Jeannine
While my mum was in hospital in the summer I knitted a set of the Alan Dart Ark animals, ended up doing loads extra because so many nurses wanted something for their little ones! I set mum on knitting the easy parts for the Ark as therapy after her stroke too.
Jeannine, are what you knit the same things as ring shawls? I've always wanted to do one of those.
is anyone member of www.ravelry.com?
I spend hours looking on ravelry, the work there is to die for, but I'm not brave enough to post up pics of what I make. Have you checked out the 'entrelac' pieces? Clever or what!
just had a look VERY clever!
Well I'm Knitty-e on there if you want to find me and add me to your friend list
Edit:
Just found this site which explains how to do it pretty clear too i actually think i may have to give it a go!

small.Yes, they are ring shawls, they will pull through a wedding ring.
Have a go They are not as dificult as you might think
Take a look at Jamieson and Smith wool merchants Shetland Isles, you would need 1 ply Cobweb wool. I think they only sell kits now, not the patterns alone but if you buy the wool I can send you any of their patterns , I have them all, plus others too.
The Sheelaugh is the most complicated but really it is because of the border. The Rosemary is very nice.
Thy do have a few 2 ply ones but they technically are not ring shawls.
They are worth doing as they sell for about up to 300 sterling depending on which one.I do mine for fundraising.
I sahall look forward to seeing yours now.

I remember doing something like that back in the 70s and as I'm rubbish at knitting it must be easier than it looks :)

And what do you and Grumpy get up to Kipper?
Do jigsaw puzzles, and dream about seeds, take photos of them, and then go to the 99p shop and buy more seeds.

I've been giggling for ages over this
;D See, stopped you feeling grumpy didnt it?
I make jewellery with beads or metalwork and/or wirework, and I'm always sewing something too. I could do this all day, every day if only I was rich enough. ::)
My wife bought me a fruit press for Xmas and I hope to make cider this year during the dark cold days when I cannot get to the allotment.
If anyone else has had success I would be glad to get advice.
